Summer of Sock 2008

SOS08 has created a monster (many I am sure). It is a competition to see who can knit the most socks during the 3 months of summer. I got talked into joining and have enjoyed every minute. No prizes yet for me, and there is even one person I know of who has already knit 18 pairs. I am up to pair #9. Check out the photos below.
Warning: if you are a Rockin' Sock Club member, there is a spoiler below.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Beautiful bouquet of flowers sent from my in-laws in the UK. What a lovely surprise for her.

Out to dinner at "Charlie Brown's". Mom showing off gifts from her son Peter and Family.
(I just happened to be sitting next to her)
And the socks that were planned for her Birthday gift from me are more work than I intended. So they are still on the needles.
I finished these the day after her birthday and she loved them - thus gifted.

Summer of Socks and a productive day...

Pattern: Summer 2008 Socks by Wendy Johnson
Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Silk Color #0189
Needles: US1.5 (2.5mm) HiyaHiya 40"circular.
Construction: 2 at once, toe-up. 56sts around on the foot. The sock is largish and slouchy so at the heel flap I reduced stitches to 24 on the back of the leg (52 total). I think the slouch is due to a combination of the pattern and the silky yarn. They are lovely summer socks!

The fix - so far

Well, an over dye worked fairly well for the socks. Liked them better in natural, but now I can wear them with Jeans and not look like such a geek. The white/pink sweater is just loving it's new color. No matter what I try I cannot remove the pink. So now I need to decide if I can "live with it" or if I want to try to over dye it too. Although to be safe I would go with a darker pink or a red if I did decide to dye it. Right now I'll hang with it and see how I feel. I am still really upset about that one!

Hey any suggestions for a new spring to fall sweater pattern?????? Yarn?????? Share some of your favorites!

Accidents Happen!

That's what I tell the kids all the time. But you think I would have known better. I have not had a laundry accident in many years. I was doing a cold water, handwash cycle for my hand knits. Then I saw this rayon, dry clean only dress in the laundry and said to myself: "that should survive a cold water, handwash cycle". And it DID! Looks good as new, but, it had the temerity to bleed all over my precious handknits. I immediately tried to then bleach them, and that didn't do a thing. Oh well, enjoy the photo and try not to have an "accident" while rolling on the floor laughing.
