Catching up

I finished these socks a while back, but hadn't taken a photo for my blog.

Pattern: Wendy Knits Double Eyelet Sock pattern.
Yarn: KnitPicks Essential Tweed in colors Inca Gold and Flint.
Needles: One 2.5mm HiyaHiya 40" circular steel
Construction: Mostly followed the pattern, but changing colors for toe, heel and cuff. I also used my new favorite bind-off for a nice looking, stretchy cuff, the Kitchener cast off. Also called the Tubular Bind Off.

Textured Knitting

I was playing around with textures in this sweater, and learned a few things. Going to do more to get geared up to design my own sweater.

Just a little fun

Two FO's, one lovely, one NOT! Let's start with the lovely, then you can stop reading :-)

These socks are Whitby from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush.

Yarn: Reynolds Soft Sea Wool. Lovely to work with, and definately has stitch definition, maybe too much? in light pink.

Needles: US 2 (2.75mm) harmony 32" circular needle.

Construction: Toe-up, two socks on one needle.

Next is a doll sweater I made while "experimenting".

Pattern: Diamonds from more Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch

Yarn: Cream - Knitpicks Palette, multi - Knitpicks Essential in Riverbed.

Needles: US3 Harmony, 32" circular needle

Construction: The Riverbed is not a nicely variegated yarn, and everything I try with it, I frog. So I thought, a doll sweater....who cares and it still does not work well. And pairing up the Palette with the Essential, does not work well either. They each have a different "texture" and don't match. (although I do like each individually)

Big Basin Complete

Pattern: Big Basin socks by Rebecca A. from Six Sox Knitalong

Yarn: Knit Picks Essential in Petunia (pink socks) and Knit Picks Memories in Red Hat (varigated)

Needles: Knit Picks Harmony US1 (32" circular)

Construction: They were fun and are unique looking, but I did not like the heal. The smaller size were knit with 48sts around, and the larger size with 60sts around. Did a picot hemmed cuff on the pink sosks, and a plain hemmed cuff on the others.

Snow Day!

Not much going on here, but I just wanted to check in. I have completed my blue pair of "double eyelet" socks, no photo yet. I just completed this morning Sarah's pair of Big Basin socks (from Six Sox Knitalong using KnitPicks Essential in Petunia). My pair will be done in a couple of days, and I will post the details then. I am going to try to complete my mothers cardigan (about time) between playing games with the kids on this nasty day. And try to get out and shovel the heavy wet snow that has a lovely crust of frozen rain on top. Ick! Happy Wednesday!

Serendipitous Monkeys

Patterns: Serendipity by Adrienne Fong (Jan08 Rockin'Sock Club Pattern), Monkey by Cookie A.

Yarn: Socks that Rock lightweight in color Dragon Dance.

Needles: Tried lots and ended up with a US0 (2mm)

Construction: Fast and fun knit. Only took me 4 days. The Purl-less Monkey on the leg is a big big and slouchy, but acceptable. When I got to the foot I could reduce the number of stitche to 60 around, and that fits much better. I did Monkey pattern with Serendipity heel and toe. The heel is a nice looking short row leaving the double wraps to show. And the toe is a star toe (I believe).
